Need
silence when I write and I worked on a computer and I love my vanilla/caramel
latte. Anytime night or day that I have silence
What is the
summary of this specific fiction work?
All my books are Christian based...."Ed on my shoulder"
is about a redheaded angel sent by God to help children around the world handle
hard times in their lives. He is a really cute character with his missing front
tooth and his untied tennis shoes.
Can you give
the reader just enough information for them to understand what is going on in
the excerpt? Ed the
redheaded angel is back on a brand-new adventure to share with all of you.
There will be lots of giggles, smiles, and lessons to be learned along the way.
Ed with his freckled face, spaced
smile swoops down from Heaven above to share with the world God's wisdom and
love.
Ed meets a sad little girl named
Maria and takes her on an adventure to a house made of candy and overflowing
with love. He helps her see just how beautiful she is and how much Jesus loves
her.
So buckle up your seat belt and get
ready to soar like an eagle, eat lots and lots of candy and share many smiles.
Ed is an angel like no other in the
whole-wide-world. He is here with the love of Jesus to share with each boy and
girl.

The tree had
a large set of eyes on his trunk and a big smiling face. “I can talk here,
Maria. This is your special place and you can do anything you want to,” The
tree said.
“Wow, a
talking tree.” Maria looked up at Ed. “This place is neat, Ed!”
“Yes, it is
and I love it, Maria! Fly, Maria, fly!” Ed shouted as he laughed.
Maria put
her arms out to her side and she smiled really big as she looked up at Ed. “I
am flying! Look at me, Ed! I am flying!” She giggled.
“Yes you
are! It is awesome to fly!” Ed grinned.
Maria felt
her feet leave the grassy ground and she slowly started floating upwards to Ed.
“Look at you
fly, Maria! Wow, look at you!” Ed shouted.
“I am
flying, Ed!” Maria shouted. She floated right up to Ed with a big smile upon
her face.
Ed stood up
on the large branch of the tree and held his arms out really wide out to his
side. “Hold your arms out like this, Maria.”
“Okay, now I
am a bird! Tweet, tweet,” Maria said as she giggled.
Ed jumped
off the branch and he started to soar way up high into the air. Maria looked up
at him and smiled big.
“Wow Ed!
That is so cool and I want to do that too!” Maria said.
“Follow me,
Maria!” Ed looked down at her.
Maria gasped
for air as she felt herself floating higher and higher until she got as high as
Ed was. “Wow! Look at us, Ed. How are we flying, Ed? We have no wings and I
know you have wings because you are an—
Ed
interrupted her as he said, “Lay on your belly, Maria!” Ed rose even higher
into the sky.
Maria
giggled when she laid on her belly and the summer breeze tickled her as she
started to fly through the sky. “I wish my mother and Father could see me fly
like a bird! Weee!”
Ed and Maria
flew through the bright colored clouds as they laughed and giggled. A little
blue bird flew up right beside Maria and he flapped its little wings really
fast to keep up with her.
“Good
morning, little birdie,” Maria said as she smiled.
“Good
morning, Maria,” The little bird said in it’s soft voice.
The little
bird smiled and flew away into the clouds as Maria waved goodbye.
“Maria, look
at me!” Ed shouted as he dived straight down into a big white fluffy cloud.
Maria
laughed and flew even faster than before. She followed Ed right through the big
cloud.
“This is so,
so fun! I am flying like a bird! I love this so much and you are the bestest
friend ever, Ed!” Maria flew right behind him.
“You are my
bestest, best friend, Maria!” Ed shouted as he glanced back at her.
Maria
laughed, slowed down and looked over at the big round yellow sun. Everything
Maria saw looked like a cartoon in bright colors. The sun smiled and winked at
her and Maria smiled and waved at the sun. “Wow, and the sun is alive too. That
is so cool!”
“Maria, how
do you like flying?” Ed flew in a wide circle and came back around and got
right beside her.
“I love it a
lot, Ed!” She looked down and saw her house. “Look at my house. It is so
small!” Maria laughed.
“Yeah, your
house looks like an ant!” Ed grinned.
Maria
laughed, stretched out her hand and took a hold of Ed’s hand.
“The clouds
look like big marshmallows, Ed! They are so pretty!”
Ed looked
over at Maria and smiled when he saw the excitement and joy that were on her
little face. “I am so glad we are friends, Maria.”
“I am glad
we are friends too, Ed. I really love you so much,” Maria said as she looked
over at him.
“I love you
too, Maria,” Ed said and he smiled.
Why is this excerpt so emotional for
you as a writer to write? And can you
describe your own emotional experience of writing this specific excerpt? All the "Ed on my shoulder" books are so close to my
heart. These books are for children of all ages. The character of Ed takes the
children on adventures and he teaches them about the love of Jesus
Christ. There's music that goes along with these books for the
kids.
Were there any deletions from this excerpt that you can share with
us? And can you please include a photo of your marked up rough drafts of this
excerpt. Oh yes! lol I am the typo queen...
however, it has been so long it would take me forever to find what you are
asking for. These books flow pretty easy for me. I so love doing these books
for the children.
Anything you would like to add? I love writing. I have since I was
a child and it always has been a part of me. I started writing in 2005 and up
till around 2012 when I had to stop because my life fell apart. Went through a
divorce, then lost my home and drifted for years with nothing but my faith in
the good Lord above. We finally got an apartment in 2018 which was a blessing.
My son setup his computer and told me to get to writing again. He said I needed
it and he was right. All those years of stress the writing was in the back of
my mind and in my heart it is such a part of me.
